Well, tonight is finally the night. After months of mental and physical preparation the New York Rangers will get the ball rolling tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes out in the desert.

There are many headlines surrounding this game for the Rangers. How will the offense and powerplay fare under the new system of Alain Vigneault? Has the reduced pad size affected Henrik Lundqvist‘s play? And so on. Ryan Callahan and Carl Hagelin are both inactive for tonight’s contest due to shoulder injuries. Lundqvist will start in goal backed up by Martin Biron.

Rangers pre-season record: 1-5-0
Coyotes pre-season record: 4-2-1

Unlike the preseason, the Rangers’ roster will field the stars tonight. Which includes Rick Nash, Brad Richards, Derek Stepan, etc.

Tonight will be an interesting match-up as the Coyotes are on the prowl for a bounce back season, while the Rangers are seeking another playoff birth and possible Stanley Cup Final appearance.
