Earlier today, Larry Brooks broke the news that Carl Hagelin has been cleared for contact in New York Rangers practices. He is off long-term injury reserve (LTIR) and is aiming to return against the New York Islanders on October 29th when the Rangers visit them in Nassau at the Coliseum. This is really great news for the Rangers as Hagelin plays a pretty big role with the team using his uncanny speed and agility in his game that provides some quality opportunities for the Rangers to set up some plays in the offensive zone. Although, probably not as familiar with the new system Alain Vigneault has implemented, hopefully he catches on quickly when it matters.
Hagelin is one of the few Rangers signed for the next couple years and also has restricted free agent status (RFA). With the shortened season last year, Hagelin was on pace for an improving year notching 10 goals and 14 assists in 48 games. He had 14 goals and 24 assists in his rookie year. If all goes well this year he is set to have a slightly better year.
