Wolfpack Weekly: Chris Kreider Gets Opportnuity

Chris Kreider will get another opportunity to prove himself NHL ready, as this past weekend Kreider, along with Cam Talbot and Brandon Mashinter will get the ability to play with the big club. As we already know, Talbot will start Thursday against the Flyers, but for Kreider this is a whole new opportunity.

Kreider, a fan favorite after his fast start in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, never really got the chance he, nor fans expected. Bouncing back and forth between the NHL and AHL last year, and in John Tortorella’s dog house, Kreider never performed up to expectations.

Kreider, had a struggling preseason as he never got it going, playing with the likes of Rick Nash and Brad Richards, before eventually seeing third and fourth line duty the remainder of the preseason.

Kreider, has played well during his time in Hartford, getting 2 goals and contributing an assist during the teams first six games of the season. If he wants to make an impact in New York, he has to stay with his simplified easy game, and not to try and do to much. Him slowing his game down and simplifying it doing the basics, will really help him here in New York. Also, putting a couple goals in the net.

Back to the Wolfpack, who finished the weekend 2-0-0, after a come from behind shootout victory on Friday against Manchester 4-3, and then held on and defeated Portland 3-2. The Wolfpack hit the ice again tonight, as they face the Portland Pirates again, before a weekend in Albany and Hersey.  No word on who starts tonight, but I would expect Jeff Malcom to get the start for the Whale.
