Morning After: Same old Rangers, lose 2-0 to Canadiens

The Rangers lost their first game at the newly renovated Madison Square Garden, 2-0.

Best player on the ice last night? Chris Kreider. Kid is playing like he deserves to stay in the NHL, and that he’s never going to go back to Hartford. And I hope his hot play continues because he’s doing everything right for the Rangers right now. They need him to continue to hard play, and use his speed to his advantage. Can create a lot of havoc using that speed.

They (Joe and Sam) talked about missing Carl Hagelin and his speed in the lineup last night. Not sure if at this point it will really help the team, because their lack of goal scoring is what really bothers me about this team. If he is their savior, and his speed will cause havoc for defenders, and will cause the Rangers to score. Then hey, I’m all for it. But I don’t see Hagelin be the offensive fix this team needs.

Eventually going on the penalty kill six times, one goal will go in, and well.. it happened to go in with a nifty move. A very nifty move to say the least by Tomas Plekanec.

The penalty on Chris Kreider. I understand the rule, that the defender has primary use of the ice, and he is the ice captain and commander. But, I mean seriously? Didn’t really touch him, and he gets called two minutes. I like the fact that he threw his arms up in the air. Was fitting as it was pretty obvious to him, that he did nothing and therw up his arms in disgust.

God Taylor Pyatt and another dumb penalty. You’re lucky you weren’t the chosen one to Hartford. I wouldn’t of missed you and your $1.55 million to do nothing.

This game had a lot of boring moments. Made Budaj look like Patrick Roy. Not too surprising. They always have a tough time against backup goaltenders.

Thought being back home would help them, but same old Rangers.

The Rangers are back on the ice again today, playing at their home away from home, the Coliseum to take on the Islanders. Coverage begins at 6:30 on MSG>
