Tonight, the New York Rangers travel to take on the Dallas Stars in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. This is the beginning of a five game road trip for the Rangers. The Rangers are looking for a victory and to regain third place in the metropolitan division.
Recently, the Rangers have lost two games out of their last three and have scored only two goals in that span. Coming off their most recent contest, a 2-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. During that game the Rangers registered 44 shots but only got 1 past Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask. The Rangers have seen incredible improvement offensively over the course of the season, Tuesday’s game also saw the return of star forward Rick Nash. There is a positive note to take out of Tuesday’s loss, the team played one of their best games of the season and had an amazing offensive showing and they look to finally be understanding the system that Alain Vigneault is trying to implement to his players.
That being said, the Rangers seem to be having an issue putting the puck in the back of the net, the Rangers have registered 115 shots on three goaltenders in their last three games and have only scored twice. So the team has to figure out how to get shots past goaltenders and fast or they’re going to sink in the standings.
In breaking news: Michael Del Zotto has returned to the line-up, Justin Falk will be a healthy scratch tonight. AV said in an interview earlier today that he has yet to see any of the consistent offensive skill that he was told Del Zotto possessed. In other news, Also in news, the NHL has released their tickets for the Stadium Series games at Yankee Stadium (so get ready to sell your souls).
In other news, the Rangers are predicted to have the same line-up as Tuesday aside from the change with Del Zotto.
