Belvin's Bandwagon - Week 5 Rangers

Hello Ranger fans! It’s Sunday and by now you know what that means, Belvin’s Bandwagon! There are four games to go off of for this week, last Sunday against the Minnesota Wild, Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Friday against the Washington Capitals, and tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. So lets not waste time and get right to it!

Like: First I’m going to start off with the Benoit Pouliot-JT Miller-Carl Hagelin line, it has been our best and most reliable line all week and it is responsible for a combined seven points in four games. Pouliot is on a seven game point scoring streak, which has been crucial for the Rangers as of late, he has finally learned to park his tall body right in front of the net and good things will happen. JT miller has been able to practically match the speed of Hagelin, which is part of what is making this line so successful and Miller scored the only regulation goal against the Maple Leafs in the 2-1 shootout win. Carl Hagelin has been the best forward all week in my opinion, he’s flying all over the ice constantly pressuring the other teams defense and opening up a lot of ice for his linemates.

I have to give an honorable mention to two players, Cam Talbot and Derek Dorsett. Talbot came up big with two back to back wins at the beginning of this week when this team needed him in the worst way. Dorsett has silently been very solid for the Rangers, he’s been buzzing all over the ice, skating hard and making sure his presence is felt, you can tell Dorsett wants to be out there every shift.

Dislike: Brad Richards. Seriously, where did Richards disappear to? Richards was one of the only bright lights in the awful month of October for the Rangers, and since then he’s tapered off a lot. Richards hasn’t scored a goal in ten games and has been almost invisible during games. A few games I’ve watched I have actually had to double check to make sure Richards was in fact playing that night. For a guy who struggled last year, a guy who started off the year so well, and a supposed leader on this team, I have been VERY disappointed with Brad Richards. This has been a LONG time coming.

Well, that was this week’s bandwagon guys! Make sure you comment below or on twitter @bluelinestation or @kennybelvin and let us know what you think!
