Ranger Blueshirts Daily: 1/6/14

It’s that time of the morning again! Here are your morning Rangers’ links. Yesterday was an off day for the Rangers and no practice means a slow news day. But here we go.

In order to make room on the roster for the newly acquired Dan Carcillo, the Rangers reassigned defenseman Conor Allen back to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Allen, played as part of the third pairing in the game against the Penguins for 16:53 of ice time. In his three games, Allen played a minimum of 11:39 in ice time. The game against the Penguins showed the favoritism as the more experienced defenseman, Michael Del Zotto was again a healthy scratch.

It is not unexpected to hear rumors being circulated regarding  Del Zotto’s agents wanting to speak with the team’s management staff. In actuality his agency, Newport Sports Management Inc., represents many of the biggest names in the NHL and is based in Mississauga, Ontario. It is not out of the ordinary for the agency to meet with a team when they have players ready to begin contract discussions, such as Dan Girardi.

The Rangers are preparing to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at 7:00pm. Be on the lookout for our pre game report this afternoon. Carcillo is rumored to be playing tonight so tune in to see how that works out. If you haven’t already heard, Carcillo’s twitter handle is @CarBombBoom13 and he will be wearing jersey number 13. If you aren’t sure about his stats, have a look. You may, or may not, be impressed, depending on your idea of a valuable player.
