Olympic Digest: The End Of Sochi is Nigh

Good morning hockey fans. As we prepare for the end of the gold medal game we recap the last little bit of the Sochi, Olympic Games before tonight’s closing ceremonies.

Team USA was defeated in the bronze medal game by Team Finland. Teemu Selanne is most likely ending his Olympic run with a medal and 22 career goal over six appearances. Tuuka Rask was brilliant in goal. Some days you just tip your hat to the best team and look forward to the next event.

The final medals count looks like this.

The closing ceremonies are tonight, on NBC in the USA. The Russians are rumored to have gotten that ring situation taken care of already, maybe Siberia is involved? Julie Chu was announced as the flag bearer for the USA.

Also on NBC tonight is a look back at the Nancy Kerrigan and Tanya Harding story from 1994. This is one of the biggest scandals in Olympic history. I said scandal, not upset.

As the players look to get going on NHL ice again, the New York Rangers are looking at injuries. Mats Zuccarello is out for a bit but Derek Dorsett is rapidly approaching a return.

It’s short and sweet this morning as we start getting ready for the NHL to get going again. Before we get there, what are your favorite memories of the Olympic Games this year? Who have your favorite players been? Let us know!
