Rangers' Blueshirts Daily: 2/26/14

It’s one day closer to Rangers’ game day!!! The count down is on and if you aren’t excited you need to check your pulse.

Right now the uncertainty of Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi based on contract talks and the trade deadline is at its peak. The March fifth deadline is eight days away, I’m counting today because it isn’t over yet. For the team this is a distraction, not unlike Henrik Lundqvist’s extension talks. These things involve everyone, because the room is a family.

If you buy into the rumors, Callahan is already written off to be traded. The biggest rumor still involves Martin St. Louis of the Lightning, as most have heard already. “Brooksie” says nothing came of the talks with Tampa Bay about the swap. Which do you believe? What are your thoughts on the trade possibilities?

Yesterday, the Rangers recalled J.T. Miller from the Hartford Wold Pack to take the place of injured winger Mats Zuccarello. In 25 games this season, Miller has tow goals, two assists, and is a -7. He last played for the Rangers on 6 January against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Derek Dorsett is practicing with the team and Daniel Carcillo is alternating on the fourth line. With Miller rejoining the NHL ranks, this is another situation that could spark some interesting conversations going forward.

Katie Strang gave her post Olympic assesment yesterday. It sounds a lot like the pieces we’ve already run, with less depth. But you can read it from a professional if that’s your preference.

There you have it folks. The news is slim until the team hits the ice again. So let’s keep getting ready; the NHL is back!
