Rangers' Daily Poll 3/3/14

Hello New York Rangers fan! Today’s poll is going to tackle the hottest topic in “Rangerstown” today. Should the New York Rangers re-sign team captain Ryan Callahan? With the lack of a contract extension for Callahan and the upcoming March 5th trade deadline, rumors are swirling. I want to know what you all think about it.

Now according to the latest reports, Callahan and his agent were originally asking Rangers general manager  Glen Sather for seven years, at seven million dollars per year. Sather has since countered with an offer of six years at six million a year. Today’s reports stated that Callahan was willing to come down on his offer to six years of six and a half million a year. I won’t even get into the debate of whether or not Callahan is worth that money, because everyone knows that he isn’t worth that.

That being said, Callahan is the Rangers captain, is the heart and soul of the locker room, a very talented penalty killer and one of the top 6 shot blockers on the roster. That being said, he’s often injured, doesn’t put up a large number of points and has never played to a level that would justify a six-year, 36 million dollar contract. So here’s the question I want all of you to answer, should the Rangers re-sign Callahan? Or should they give in to the trade rumors and move him to another team that’s showed interest?
