NHL Trade Deadline 2014 Open Thread

Today is the NHL Trade Deadline and things could get really crazy with all the rumors floating around. There was a flurry of activity yesterday, but most were relatively small moves. The biggest names are still in the wind; this includes Ryan Callahan. We will be updating all the trade moves in the NHL here today so keep coming back to stay informed. Let us know what you think might happen, what you hope happens, and how you feel about the moves as they occur. Even if it’s not the Rangers making moves, it still affects the rest of the season matchups and possibly post season contests. Think about Dustin Penner on the Washington Capitals with Alex Ovechkin… UGH!

-New York Rangers send: Ryan Callahan, 2015 first round pick, and conditional 2014 second round pick to Tampa Bay Lightning for Martin St. Louis.

Reports from Darren Dreger also include that the Rangers could get a pick back from the Lightning if Callahan resigns with the team.

-The Ottawa Senators send a 2014 fifth round draft pick and a 2015 third round draft pick  to the Edmonton Oilers for Ales Hemsky. The Oilers also retain 50% of Hemsky’s salary.

-The Los Angeles Kings trade Brayden McNabb and two second round picks to the Buffalo Sabres for Hudson Fasching and Niclas Deslauriers.

-The Montreal Canadiens receive Devan Dubnyk from the Nashville Predators for future considerations.

-The Los Angeles Kings trade Matt Frattin, a second round draft pick, and a conditional third round draft pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Marian Gaborik.

-The Florida Panthers trade Marcel Goc to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2015 third round draft pick and a 2014 fifth round draft pick.

-The Carolina Hurricanes trade Tuomo Ruutu to the New Jersey Devils for Andrei Loktinov and a conditional 2017 third round draft pick.

-Remember when the Florida Panthers acquired Roberto Luongo yesterday? Well, Tim Thomas goes to the Dallas Stars for Dan Ellis.

-The Edmonton Oilers trade Nick Schultz to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a fifth round draft pick.

-The Philadelphia Flyers trade Andrej Meszaros to the Boston Bruins for a third round draft pick.

-The New York Rangers trade a fifth round draft pick to the Vancouver Canucks for Raphael Diaz.

-The Calgary Flames trade Reto Berra to the Colorado Avalanche for a 2014 second round draft pick.

-The Nashville Predators trade David Legwand to the Detroit Red Wings for Patrick Eaves, Calle Jarnkrok, and a third round draft pick.

-The New York Islanders trade Thomas Vanek and a conditional 2014 fifth round draft pick to the Montreal Canadiens for Sebastien Collberg and a 2014 conditional second round draft pick.

-The Buffalo Sabres trade Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to the Minnesota Wild for Torrey Mitchell, a 2014 second round draft pick, and a 2016 second round draft pick.

-The Buffalo Sabres trade Jaroslav Halak and a 2015 third round draft pick to the Washington Captials for Michal Neuvirth and Rostislav Klesla.

-The Anaheim Ducks trade Alex Grant to the Ottawa Senators for Andre Petersson.

-The Ottawa Senators trade Andre Petersson to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a third round draft pick.

-The Pittsburgh Penguins traded a 2014 third round draft pick to the Calgary flames for Lee Stempniak.

-The Tampa Bay Lightning traded Dana Tyrell and Matt Taormina to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Dalton Smith and Jonathan Marchessault.

-The San Jose Sharks traded James Livingston to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional 2016 seventh round draft pick.
