Hello Rangers fans. It’s the day after the trade deadline and the day after the debut of Martin St. Louis in a New York Ranger’s jersey. It wasn’t the best end result but it was a point; that’s a step up from where the team was previously.
As he does so well, Pat Leonard summed up yesterday rather well. “Get Shorty” eh? Just wait til Mats Zuccarello returns.
As we learned more about the contract demands that prevented Ryan Callahan’s contract from being renegotiated, things became all to real for some. In the end, the money, the term, and apparently the No Trade/No Movement Clause was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Just in case you didn’t see last night’s game, for some strange reason. You probably heard about the Rangers scoring, not one, but TWO short-handed goals during a Brad Richards tripping penalty. Yeah, that really happened. Ryan McDonagh got his second short-handed goal of the season, the team high, and here is the video. You know you want to watch it, a LOT!
The Rangers’ newly acquired defenseman, Raphael Diaz, is set to join the team in North Carolina before the game tomorrow against the Carolina Hurricanes. Here is a bit on Diaz; there’s also a ray of sunshine at the very end of this piece about Zuccarello.
There you have it folks. There is the daily news. Don’t forget to check our thread on trades from yesterday to see how the rest of the Eastern Conference fared with things; Washington made some strong acquisitions. Stay tuned for your daily poll and other great features!
