Hello New York Rangers fans, how about that shutout win today over the Detroit Red Wings? With that victory, Henrik Lundqvist secured his 300th career win and his 49th career shutout. So to honor Lundqvist and his milestone I decided to make today’s poll about him, do you think he’s fully recovered from the bad start he had to the season?
It’s no secret to anyone around the National Hockey League that Lundqvist’s start to this season was not what was expected. In the beginning of the season he was showing save percentage’s that we as Rangers fans weren’t really use to seeing, his numbers often fell below .900, sometimes even below .800 which is of course not the Lundqvist we all know. The Rangers goaltender was pulled from several starts, which is not something we’ve seen before in his career. However since the beginning of January Lundqvist has really turned his play around, of his 19 games played 14 of them have seen Lundqvist with an above .900 save percentage, two of those being shutouts. During the Olympics Lundqvist posted a 1.50 goals against average and since he’s come back has gone through what head coach Alain Vigneault calls an “Olympic Hangover”. That may possibly be over as today Lundqvist posted a shutout on 30 shots, but that will have to be judged later.
So what do you think Ranger fans? Has Henrik Lundqvist fully recovered from his early season slump? Vote in the poll below!
