Hello New York Rangers fans and happy game day! Today’s poll is of course another hot topic in “Rangerstown”, when considering the acquisition of Martin St. Louis, is Brad Richards now safe from being bought out at the end of this season?

After what was a lackluster 2013 NHL season by Richards, there was a lot of speculation that the Rangers would buyout their highly paid centerman. Richards skated slower than expected, didn’t put up the expected amount of points, and didn’t lead the team in the way he was supposed to. However, after much discussion with general manager Glen Sather, new head coach Alain Vigneault, and the rest of the Rangers brass the decision was made to keep Richards. That being said just because Richards made it through one off season does not mean he will make it through another. There is plenty of speculation that this upcoming off season, being the last chance to buyout a contract without a penalty, is the off season Richards will be bought out. However, bringing Marty St. Louis into the picture makes things look a little different, it’s evident to anyone who’s watched Ranger games that the connection between Richards and St. Louis is still very much alive. The two train together during the summer, are close friends off the ice, and won the 2004 Stanley Cup together in Tampa Bay. So the question is, should the Rangers run the risk of keeping Richards enormous contract just to satisfy him for the end of this season, and next season of St. Louis?
