It’s game day Rangers’ fans!!! The Rangers take on the Carolina Hurricanes once again as we see the Staal brothers battle it out again. Before we get to that let’s get to the daily news.
The NHL and the General Managers from each team are meeting in Boca Raton, Florida this week to discuss a variety of topics in the league. Included in these topics is the future of over time in games and how it should be played. Here is the Rangers’ Glen Sather talking about what has happened thus far in the meetings.
Two of the Rangers’ current players are now at the center of contract rumors and musings. Marc Staal was drafted 12th overall by the Rangers in 2005. Next season is the final year of Staal’s contract and with the way contracts, and trades, happened this year everyone is looking to the future now. Staal wants a new contract with the Rangers, according to reports. It may be the smartest move he makes to get the deal done early.
Another of the Rangers’ defensemen in the same situation is Anton Stralman. As we shared with you yesterday, early reports said that Stralman had turned down an offer from the Rangers, his agent put those rumors to rest via email. With Kevin Klein and, now, Raphael Diaz added to the roster, something is going to have to give somewhere in the roster. Justin Falk has been a healthy scratch for months and his minimal contracts end after the current season closes. Could Stralman be the odd man out to keep Klein on the roster?
For now we have other things to concentrate, things like tonight’s game! Let’s get ready to get things going Rangers’ fans!
