New York Rangers at Minnesota Wild: The Bad Guys

The New York Rangers visit the Minnesota Wild in a home coming for Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh.

The Minnesota Wild enter tonight’s game with a record of 34-22-9 for 77 points and fourth in the Central Division. Darcy  Kuemper gets the start tonight. He is 11-4-3 on the season with two shut outs, a .920 save percentage, and 2.32 goals against average. The Wild are led by Jason Pominville‘s 24 goals for 45 points. Zach Parise has 22 goals for 42 points and Mikko Koivu rounds out the top three with 8 goals for 37 points. Nino Niederreiter and Matt Cooke lead the team with 148 hits each and Ryan Suter leads the team by far with 113 blocks. The Wild are fast but have had a few struggles at times. The newly acquired, Ilya Brizgalov hasn’t played a game yet, but I’m sure he’s got the dressing room in great spirits. The Wild also acquired Matt Moulson from the Buffalo Sabres, you may remember him from the New York Islanders. Former Rangers, Mike Rupp has only played 12 games for the Wild this season and it is not likely he will play tonight. Clayton Stoner leads the team with 78 penalties in minutes, other than that penalties are limited. The Wild play a clean game so the Rangers will have to do the same if they want to have a chance at getting through this game and getting a win.

The Rangers won the first meeting of these two teams earlier this season in New York. Cam Talbot was the goalie in that game as well. Minnesota lost their last two games, let’s give them a third!
