New York Rangers at Winnipeg Jets: The Bad Guys

The Winnipeg Jets play host to the New York Rangers tonight as the puck drops at 8:00pm ET.

The Jets are 30-28-9 with 69 points, that’s good enough for sixth place in the Central Division. Ondrej Pavelec leads his

team onto the ice tonight with a record of 20-24-6, a .903 save percentage, and a 2.95 goals against average. Bryan Little is his team’s top dog with 20 goals and 33 assists for 53 points and has four points in the last three games. Blake Wheeler falls in just behind with 23 goals for 51 points. Dustin Byfuglien is the defenseman turned forward who shocked fans by posting 16 goals for 48 points. Mark Stuart leads the team with 81 minutes in penalties, Byfuglien is right behind him with 66 minutes. The same two players lead the team in hits, in the same order with 179 and 177. Mark Stuart is the player who sacrifices his body most often to block the puck before it gets to the goalie.

The Winnipeg Jets have some other high profile names on their team. Evander Kane is a threat every time he touches the puck. Olli Jokinen scored twice against the Rangers in the last game and is not shy about putting the puck on net. Mark Scheifele, James Wright, and Grant Clitsome are all out with injuries. The Jets are also on a losing streak, losing the last five games despite out shooting four of those opponents. Look for a strong game against the New York Rangers tonight as both teams are fighting for the playoffs in what is shaping up to be one heck of a race to the finish line. This game could go either way, it just depends on which team has the ability to find the goal or get the puck luck.
