Good morning and Happy Game Day New York Rangers’ fans!!! It was a great weekend for the team and now we ar coming in hot for the last 10 games of the season, starting tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes.
With the Rangers at the beginning of a streak, hopefully 10 more wins, it’s important for a coach to figure out how to keep the intensity level from fading. Especially in a team fighting for every point in a very close race for a post season berth. Coach, Alain Vigneault, has already made it clear to his team that every game is now a “game 7 situation” and that Cam Talbot is unlikely to play down the stretch. It’s the Henrik Lundqvist show from here on out.
Sometimes you have to stay in the present to assess things as they are happening. It’s never good to dwell on the past of look too far in the future. Sometimes, especially on a Monday morning, it’s important to assess the weekend’s activity. The four points from the weekend were huge. The fact that they were both regulation wins against conference rivals is even more important. especially given the direct competition and proximity in standings between the Rangers and the Blue Jackets.
In his Rangers début this weekend, Raphael Diaz looked really good. It wasn’t that he jumped out on the ice with major earth shattering plays, it was how solid he proved to be on the ice. The best game a defenseman can have is a game where he is barely noticed. Diaz was that and more. He was confident and he looked good on the power play. This could give Glen Sather and company something to think about with contracts this summer.
There’s your New York Rangers news for the morning! That should keep you satisfied until we roll out the pregame reports and other features we have ready for you to read as the day continues. Let’s Go Rangers!!!
