Good afternoon New York Rangers fans! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are gearing up for tomorrow’s possible game clinching game against the Carolina Hurricanes! However before we even think about tomorrow’s game, you have to take today’s daily poll! According to the Rangers and the Hartford Wolfpack, right winger Jesper Fast was called up from the AHL club this morning, and according to beat writers at the morning skate he is skating on a line with Carl Hagelin and Brad Richards. The question for today’s poll is do you agree with the call-up and the line he’s been put on?
A native of Nassjo, Sweden, Fast is 22 years old and head coach Alain Vigneault is hoping that he can be Chris Kreider‘s NHL replacement. Fast originally made the team over Kreider at the beginning of the season, but was sent down when Hagelin returned from his shoulder injury. The speedy, young right winger has 34 points in 48 games with the Wolfpack, and leads the team in power play goals with eight. Now the second line would be Hagelin-Richards-Fast, which would be a speedy line with a good mix of veteran experience and youthful enthusiasm, and a scoring touch. Fast’s call-up means that Dan Carcillo will presumably be the odd man out, and a healthy scratch.
Being that the second line is now what it is that means that Martin St. Louis will now be on the first line with Derek Stepan and Rick Nash. You can make your assumptions about that line and what it will produce, but take note to the fact that one of St. Louis’ three assists is on a Stepan goal and his only goal came from a pass by Nash, so it may work well for him.
Anyway, what do you think Ranger fans? Are you happy with the call-up of Jesper Fast and the line he was placed on? Vote in the poll below!
