Good morning New York Rangers fans! we’ve got a little lull in the schedule but we’ve still go news for you. The weekend was a busy one so let’s get caught up on everything.
The Philadelphia Flyers lost to the Boston Bruins on Saturday, giving the Rangers the opportunity to clinch a post season berth with only one point in their next game. The Senators had other plans. Mats Zuccarello kept the Rangers in the game but the Senators won 3-2. One player can’t do it all on his own, Derick Brassard and Benoit Pouliot were there with him but I can’t say as much for the majority of the team.
Ryan McDonagh missed his second straight game this weekend after the hit from Alexadre Burrows and the Rangers dropped a very important game against the Senators. John Moore has really played well in McDonagh’s absence, though there is clearly a missing link on th ice.
The Hartford Wolf Pack defeated the Norfolk Admirals yesterday, 3-2. Ryan Bourque opened the scoring and Jesper Fasth kept it going. The Wolf Pack remain alive in the AHL playoff picture.
In hockey news that isn’t NHL, or professional at all, there was a “guns and hoses” charity game at the Nassau Coliseum this weekend. New York Policemen and Firemen dropped the puck and well a hockey game broke out between the fights. You can see the video here.
Tomorrow is the announcement of the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award. The voting ended last night so now the votes are being counted and a winner will be named shortly. Who do you think should receive the award and why? Our staff will be sharing their opinions on this in the next two days so stay tuned! We’ve got a lot of stuff in store for you over the next few days and we can’t wait to share it with you.
