Strengths:

Boyle may not be the guy constantly putting up points every game but he is noticed in other ways. Boyle is part of the fourth line that continues to make themselves known on the ice. He is great on the penalty kill and a lot of time is able to give peace of mind to his teammates, coaches and the New York Ranger fan base when the team goes down a man because of a penalty. He is also constantly standing up for his teammates. You can usually find him questioning the referee or having words with an opponent, often because of something they did to one of his fellow New York Rangers.

Weaknesses:

The one thing Boyle does not do enough of is use his body. He is a big guy at six foot-seven inches, yet he is more like a gentle giant most of the time. He takes a ton of shots but unfortunately he always seems to find the goalie’s chest pads.

Post Season Predictions:

I believe Brian Boyle will continue to be an asset to the team especially if he is kept on the fourth line during the playoffs. As the series progresses, I think we will see a tougher Boyle with all emotions in the forefront. Although, he spends some time in front of the net, I am hoping to see him there more. He is a big guy, that can really screen the goalie and will be excellent for a deflection. It’s also important to take note of the fact that Boyle has proven to be a very strong player in the post season.
