Strengths: The biggest strength of Brad Richards is his veteran experience and leadership in the locker room. He’s won a Stanley Cup and knows what it takes to achieve that goal. I believe Richards has the heart and desire to take the New York Rangers to glory and I think it’s something he wants. He’s a valuable source of offense and is the quarterback of the Rangers power play, which at it’s peak was in the top 10 in the National Hockey League.

Weaknesses: He’s a streaky hockey player, his bursts of offense are just that, bursts. When he’s on a down streak it goes to his head and affects his overall game play and he becomes a liability. He’s got to focus on staying a leader and understanding that the slumps are normal and to just go out and play the game and it will all come to him.

Post Season Prediction: I expect Richards to have a post-season similar to the one he had with the Rangers during the 2012 playoffs. Last season he did very poorly in the playoffs, and his play was so bad it even got him to be a healthy scratch during games four and five against the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Semi Finals. I really expect Richards to come out and surprise everyone this post season and lead the Rangers to glory.
