New York Rangers Roundup: 4/29/14

Today is game day New York Rangers fans! Today isn’t a normal game day, it’s a possible

elimination game! The Rangers have the chance to close out their series against the Philadelphia Flyers on the road. There should not be an issue with being on the road. The Rangers had the best road record in the eastern conference this season and have already won a post season game in Philadelphia. Tonight’s challenge is to master the mental challenge before them.

Just to remind everyone what happened in the last game, Martin St. Louis scored a hustling goal that was disallowed because of a whistle happy referee. Flyers’ fans may say differently, but this is a pretty clear picture of what happened. Steve Mason never had control of the puck; the whistle should never have sounded.

After having a HUGE game on Sunday, Dominic Moore seems to have resurfaced in the media. Here is a nice little piece about Moore and his story, infinitely told, of real life and hockey life. For most of us hockey is a lifestyle, it’s an extended family, and an emotional support system. What would you do if both parts of your life were ripped apart at the seams and separated by pain and heartache?

There is no denying the rivalry and the animosity between the Rangers and the Flyers. The players hate each other, except Derek Dorsett and Jakub Voracek who are best buds off the ice, and the fans are just as put off by each other. The players have even been getting personal with the fans in this series. Here is a nice little piece with the high, or low, lights.

So let’s get through this day as best we can. The countdown is on til game time and all we can do is wait. Try not to taunt too many Flyers’ fans today. Wear your colors and show your spirit. Let’s Go Rangers!! Let’s get this thing shut down!
