Benoit Pouliot decided that money is more important than winning a Stanley Cup. The New York Rangers felt they don’t need players like that and decided to move on. The contract he received from the Edmonton Oilers unfortunately, is a prime example of why they’re bottom dwellers year after year. In the case of Anton Stralman, he played on one of the best blue lines in the National Hockey League. His monster puck possession statistics(56.5% on ice Corsi) were built up by playing next to Marc Staal. One of the best shut down defenseman in the league who had comparable Corsi percentages or possession stats. In Tampa Bay he won’t have the same stay at home defenseman to bail him out and his ice time and  statistics will reflect his play. The Tampa Bay Lightning don’t have the skilled skaters the New York Rangers have and will regret signing him to that contract eventually when he’s a minus fifteen and on the third pairing. Playing thirteen minutes a game! Dan Boyle will make loosing him a wash when he scores twenty power play points from the point in the  1-3-1 set the New York Rangers use.
