The third installment of the New York Rangers Give Back series features Henrik Lundqvist. The King of New York created the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation. He is quoted from his website saying “Our lives are filled with different challenges”. The things some of us take for granted like health, education and financial stability are far from guaranteed for many people. The goal of his foundation is to help people from all over the world who are facing these kinds of challenges.
From what I gather from his foundations website, Lundqvist has several charities that are all supported under his foundations umbrella. The first one is the ABC Charity. This project is on a massive scale. It’s the first ever human alphabet made with thousands of kids from around the world. Once the alphabet is completed, the pictures will be sold as photo art. Companies and individuals will be able to select their name and 100% of the money goes to the charity of the buyers choice. Lundqvist was involved with the Letter E made in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Here is a video from his foundation that gives you some insight into this amazing project.
The Food Bank for New York City is another beneficiary of the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation. It’s a 30-year old hunger relief organization that serves the five boroughs. As one of the countries biggest food banks, it mission is to end hunger in New York City. The Food Bank tackles the hunger issue by providing food distribution, income support and nutrition education.
The Henrik Lundqvist Foundation is also involved with the Garden of Dreams. Its a non-profit charity that works directly with Madison Square Garden and all of it’s affiliates, including the NY Rangers, NY Knicks, Liberty, MSG entertainment and MSG media. Their goal is making dreams come true for children facing obstacles through unique and unforgettable, ongoing events and programs that truly change lives.
His final charity he is involved with is VH1 Save The Music. The purpose of this organization is to bring awareness to the need and benefits to music education. Their goal is directed to restore music programs in America’s public schools and raise awareness of the importance of making music a complete part of a child’s education.
As if we needed one more reason to love Henrik Lundqvist. He is King of New York and clearly has a heart the size of the Big Apple. You can see through the charities he is involved with that he truly knows how to give back. I will leave you with the following quote from his foundation. “There is no greater reward than making an impact in the lives of people in need. Support the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation, and together we’ll do just that”.
