Taylor Hall Wants the Oilers To Play Like Rangers

You know you’re doing something right when other teams want to model their play after you. Taylor Hall wants his Edmonton Oilers to play hockey similarly to the Rangers. Now that is what I like to hear about!

The Rangers were a fast team that had trouble with their identity at the start of the year and figured it out over the course of the season. They were a fun team to watch. They’re not big, but they play with the puck and they’re fast. That’s how we have to be.”-Taylor Hall to the Edmonton Journal

Last year, the Oilers finished 29-44-9. The Rangers and the Oilers split the season series one-a-piece. Hall himself 92 goals and 133 assists in his NHL career, he’s a good player and he wants his team to be a very good contender this upcoming season as well as the years to come. But what does this mean for the Rangers?

What Hall is saying shows that other teams know that the Rangers mean business. If a struggling team wants to model their game after a team, the Rangers might have been the best choice. I’d say the top 5 teams in the lower side of their conference wants to model their game after the team that lost in 5 games in the Stanley Cup Final.

(Continued from above)”We’re not going to bully teams out of their arena, but what we can do and what we can grow into is a possession team… a team that’s hard to knock off pucks and battles the way the big teams do.”

The Rangers play Edmonton twice next year, on Sunday, November 9th at 6:00 in Madison Square Garden. Also, the second game will be on Sunday, December 14 at 9:30 in Rextall Place. It should be a fun match up, Edmonton gets a little better every year, as they should honestly. They had the first pick in the draft for a few years, and they put a top line together full of first overall draft picks. It’ll be a fun season to watch, you never really know who is going to jump out ahead of everyone else.
