Good afternoon New York Rangers fans! With only weeks left until training camp the Rangers seem to have all the players re-signed and ready to go. Actually all except one, John Moore has yet to re-sign a contract with the team. So today’s poll question is, what should the team do about Moore?
Rangers assistant general manager Jeff Gorton said that he “liked John Moore a lot” and that he’s “pretty sure we’ll get him signed, and get him ready to go. He’s a good player for us.” That being said, with camp less than two weeks away and no progress being reported in the talks the Rangers may have to explore other options. Moore doesn’t have arbitration rights, so he’s really kind of stuck with whatever the Rangers decide to throw at him. However maybe they don’t want to re-sign Moore, maybe the Rangers brass really liked what they saw from Conor Allen or Dylan McIlrath last season and they want to give one of those two a shot?
Moore is the sixth defense man, on the third pairing with veteran defense man Kevin Klein. The two make a great pair because Moore likes to join the rush whereas Klein likes to play more of a “stay-at-home” type of game. The pair is like Ryan McDonagh and Dan Girardi just to a lesser extent talent-wise. Sure he only tallied 15 points during the regular season last season but it was his first full year in the NHL and he’s only 23 and we all know it takes defense men longer to develop than forwards.
Moore is a piece to the Rangers puzzle but there are some young players with the Hartford Wolfpack who are itching at the opportunity to play with the big club. So what do you think the Rangers should do with Moore, vote in the poll below!
