Here’s your daily dose for fabulous, glorious Friday, New York Rangers fans.

Rangers Prospect to Play in North America – NBC Sports

Calle Andersson, New York’s fourth round pick in the 2012 draft, will be leaving Switzerland to play hockey in North America. He’s the son of former Rangers defenseman, Peter Andersson, who played 39 games during the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons.

The 21-year-old Swedish native logged five goals and 12 assists in 30 games with the HC Lugano, as well as three assists in the Playoffs last season in the National League A (NLA).

Here’s what Elite Prospects had to say about him in 2012: “An all-around, two-way defenseman. Andersson contributes both offensively and defensively. Skates well for a big guy and has impressive decision making. Passing game is strong and so is his positioning. Not overly flashy, but plays with authority and smarts.”

The Rangers prospect will allegedly play under a two-way contract this year with the Hartford Wolfpack. Weighing in at 212 pounds at a height of 6’2″, hopefully Andersson could help toughen up the Broadway Blueshirts in the future.

Philadelphia Flyers Extend Voracek’s Contract for Eight More Years – NHL.com

The Philadelphia Flyers and their top-line winger, Jakub Voracek, have agreed to terms – reportedly to an eight-year contract worth $8.25 million per year, according to TSN. His current contract, worth $4.25 million per, ends after the 2015-16 season.

In his past four seasons with the Flyers, the 25-year-old has clearly been on an upward trend and there are no signs of him slowing down. During the 2015-16 season, Voracek tallied 22 goals and 81 points for fifth overall in the NHL in the points department and tying Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin.

His 59 assists were good for second place in the NHL, right behind Nicklas Backstrom with 60 and in front of Sidney Crosby with 56.

With just about a point-per-game, the native of Czech Republic is a must-stay on the Flyers. To give him a lengthy expensive contract was a no-brainer.

What does this mean for the New York Rangers?

Well the team will be up against one of the most talented players in the league for at least nine more seasons in the Metropolitan Division. Last year, Voracek scored a power play goal and two assists against the Blueshirts over the span of two games.

However, on a team that failed to make the Playoffs going 33-31-18 last season, and was shutout by the Rangers twice in a four-game-series, there’s not much of a reason to be concerned or worried over Voracek’s extension with the Flyers. At least not yet.

And that’s all for today. Catch you next time.
