Welcome to Wednesday’s edition, New York Rangers fans. Here are some pieces of hockey news we wanted to share:

Out to prove them wrong- BOSTONHERALD.COM

Perhaps, the best satisfaction to any employee is the one where you prove to everyone that you made it in the world. Those that doubted you, whether it was due to not having the skills or experience, are put to shame and can’t even look you in the eyes, when they find out you made it and have been successful in your field.

Well, that could be the case for Edmonton Oilers captain and defenseman Andrew Ference.

An article written by Chris Mason discusses Ference’s ranking ‘snub’ by the NHL’s Central Scouting. The group overseas prospects set to enter the NHL and ranks them according to their skill and other qualities as a player.

Ference was not among those ranked high enough for further evaluation.

In response, he wrote a letter to every NHL general manager, explaining his omission by Central Scouting, conducted his own testing at the University of Alberta, and even provided where to contact him for further questions. At the time, he was playing for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks.

needless to say, Ference had the last laugh! He’s a Stanley Cup Champion with the 2011 Boston Bruins, and is the captain of one of the most recognizable franchises in hockey, and has played 16 seasons in the NHL.

Yeah, I think he is enjoying a little bit of satisfaction right now!

Don’t quit your day (ur, night) jobs- YAHOO.COM

On Yahoo’s Puckdaddy, Greg Wyshynski wrote an article on Daniel and Henrik Sedins.

of course, we all know them as the all-star twin brothers from the Vancouver Canucks. But what you may not have known about the two-some is that they can play basketball. Well, we should say not play basketball.

In an episode produced by the Canucks organization, the brothers are challenged to a game of HORSE, everyone’s favorite mimic game.

For those who are unfamiliar, you each have to copy each other when shooting the basketball to the hoop. If you miss the shot, you are awarded a letter, “H”. The game continues until the first person to get all five letters, H-O-R-S-E, loses.

Well, it was the Sedins to show off their ‘balling” skills. Actually, it was hard to tell them apart. They both came out in not-so-recognizable jerseys, and couldn’t remember who was who.

Let’s just say they won’t be quitting their hockey games to pursue careers in the NBA, anytime soon.

First look at potential Las Vegas hockey rink- TORONTOSUN.COM

For those curious about the expansion cities for the NHL, it’s been narrowed down to Quebec City and Las Vegas, NV.

In a previous edition, we wrote about an arena that exists and NHL-ready in the capital city of the Quebec province.

Now, Las Vegas has unveiled it’s proposed hockey arena. Construction on the building has reportedly begun and should become a hit with both diehard and casual hockey fans.

And that’s the news for today. See you all tomorrow.
