This latest edition of the Wrap-Up belongs to the ladies of the Blue Line: Jessica and Jennifer. They are relentless fans of the New York Rangers and got a thing or two to share what’s on their minds.

Without further delay, here’s the latest they have been whipping up for us.

Rick Nash Should Be an Alternate Captain

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Last week, Jessica poised an idea for this upcoming season. She made an argument for Nash to hold an ‘alternate captaincy’ position, taking over for the retired Martin St. Louis.

He’s no stranger to being a team leader, as he was named captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets for a handful of seasons. With his height listed at 6’4 and offensive talent, he could definitely be looked ‘up to’ by his teammates and the smaller players (yes, we are looking at you Mats Zuccarello).

But, the question is, has Nash done enough to have earned to wear an A or any letter? That’s debatable, but Jessica gives you her case for the idea.

Kevin Hayes Among Top NHL Sophomores

In another article written by Jessica, she touches on the topic of Hayes, and his second year with the Blueshirts.

She discusses of how the 6’5 forward was a pleasant surprise for the team, performed beyond expectations. However, that shouldn’t be a surprise since he was a first round selection by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL entry Draft.

Even though his play started slow in his rookie season, the Boston native became a factor for the team and helped pushed the Rangers to having the best overall record in the regular season. His play didn’t let up in the playoffs, where the team came up one game short of returning to the Stanley Cup Final.

Hayes now knows his name and is expected to have a good season year, and avoid the sophomore slump.

Will he do it, and can he do it?

Should Kevin Hayes Play Wing or Center?

Staying with the Hayes-theme, Brandon followed up Jessica with a question of his own for the forward. Where should Hayes play next season: on the wing or center?

His a natural winger, but made a living on Broadway, centering the third-line. He did some time on the wing with the first and second lines. However, with the lack of depth at the center position, it was out of necessity for Hayes to be moved.

This season, we could see him on the wing, opposite of newcomer Jarret Stoll at center. Or another option with Oscar Lindberg. Or another option could be present that no one is talking about.

Who knows, but Brandon brings up a good point for fans to digest and look for as training camp starts next month.

Rangers Ok Stoll To Wear #26, But Was It Too Soon?

After a brief absence, Jen returns to her writing and brings up the topic of the number 26.

As you know, St. Louis announced his retirement, earlier this summer. Free agent signee Jarret Stoll tweeted a picture of his new jersey number for the season: #26.

Rangers fans weren’t sure how to take the announcement. Some felt it wasn’t right, while others suggested that Stoll take another number out of respect.

Jen writes her opinion on the matter and shared with you all.
