New York Rangers Daily Dose: Connor McDavid, OHL, Kane

Good morning, New York Rangers fans. Here’s your daily dose for Monday.

McDavid to Room with Taylor Hall – Toronto Sun

Edmonton Oilers veteran and 23-year-old, Taylor Hall, has been named the chosen one to live with hockey prodigy, Connor McDavid. According to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, McDavid is comfortable with Hall. Perhaps because of the fact that both were picked by the Oilers in the first round and first overall, Hall in 2010 and McDavid in this past NHL Draft.

Hall, who has played for the Oilers since the age of 19, had 22 goals and 42 points in 65 games in his successful NHL breakout season. McDavid is 18, turning 19 in January, finding himself in much of the same situation as Hall five years ago.

As McDavid has been with the Ontario Hockey League’s Erie Otters for the past three years, Hall could definitely help ease McDavid’s transition into the NHL and help speed things up to where the rookie can get accustomed to Edmonton and comfortable on the ice there as soon as possible.

Also, Hall registered 14 goals and 38 points in 53 games last year. His season was cut short due to injury, yet his stats are still an improvement from his first year as an Oiler. He obviously knows what it takes to breakout into the league and keep on the right track, so there’s no doubt McDavid will follow suit.

OHL Game Gets a Little Rough – CBS Sports

In an OHL preseason game, things got a tad bit more potseason-esque when Cullen Mercer, center for the Flint Firebirds sent Blake Clark, left winger for the Saginaw Spirit, into the boards causing the glass to “explode.”

Clarke, seemingly uninjured but still taken aback, had a few things to say about the play to Mercer, who was sent to the sin bin for checking from behind.

It’s just the preseason, but looks like these guys are more than ready for the regular season to start.

Grand Jury to Vote on Patrick Kane Case – Buffalo News

It’s been over a month since the investigation into Patrick Kane‘s case began and starting this week, a grand jury will be going over the evidence. When they’re done with that, they will vote on “whether or not there is enough evidence to sustain a criminal charge against Kane.”

Kane allegedly raped a woman on August 2nd in his Hamburg residence after a night out in Buffalo. Any evidence from that night would have to be enough to convince the 23 people of the jury that Kane is guilty, beyond any reasonable doubt, for the conviction to stand.

What to take away from this is that we’ll soon find out if the alleged victim is just looking for attention or if this is a legitimate case against Kane. And we’ll keep you updated.

That’s all for today, check back in tomorrow for the next daily dose.
