With a chance to end the series tonight, the Rangers must play as they did in game four to beat a desperate Habs bunch.

Pregame Thoughts

  • It is almost showtime, everybody!
  • The Rangers need to find a way to win this series tonight, but to be honest, I don’t feel too good about it.

More from Editorials

  • They have had so many let down gams at home over the last two years at the Garden that with a Montreal team who will most definitely be coming out fast and playing a desperate game, the Rangers will have a difficult time.
  • Even though the Rangers wouldn’t be eliminated if they lost tonight, they need to come out and play with the same level of desperation that Montreal will play with. They need to push the pace and be aggresive and control the puck the way they did in the overtime period of game five.

  • The last thing the Rangers need is to have to go back up to Montreal and play another game on the road when they could just end the game here tonight.
  • Look for the Kreider, Zibanejad and Zuccarello line to get going tonight. I think the overtime goal could have sparked them a bit and Zibanejad is a guy who scores in bunches. If the three of them get their game going heading into the second round–assuming the Rangers win one of the next two game–they will be in great shape.

  • I am interested in seeing what Alain Vigneault does with his bottom defensive pairing. I have a horrible feeling that he is not going to change anything, which means the Rangers will need to score at least two goals tonight simply because the Holden-Staal pair will probably give up at least one.
