The Rangers have acquired Ryane Clowe from the San Jose Sharks. Rangers send a 2nd and 3rd round pick to the Sharks in return for Clowe. If the Rangers make it to the Eastern Conference finals, the Rangers will send a 2014 2nd round pick as well to the Sharks.

#NYR Can confirm that Clowe was ultimately given choice between Vancouver and Rangers. Chose Rangers. Trade call not yet done

— Katie Strang (@KatieStrangESPN) April 2, 2013

Clowe is a physical forward who has good board play, plants himself in front of the goal, and will stick up for his teammates. All things this Ranger team has lacked all season. His play could help the Rangers actually score goals even with Clowe struggling this season. The change in scenery will also be good for Clowe. If the Rangers plan on resigning Clowe to a long term deal, Cap space is needed and I think thats going to come in the way of Gaborik in the off season. Lets welcome him to New York and hope this is one move with one or 2 still to come. Clowe is making every attempt to join Rangers at MSG for tomorrows game against Pittsburgh. Expect Miller and/or Kreider to be taking a drive up I-95 back to Hartford.

More Brian Boyle from today: “As of right now I want to stay here. I want to be here. It’s been a struggle, to put it mildly.”

— Andrew Gross (@AGrossRecord) April 2, 2013

Brian Boyle has probably played his last game in a Ranger uniform at this point in his career. Boyle has been all but invisible all season. I see the Rangers moving him after showcasing him on Monday Night. What other reason does Torts have for putting Boyle on the PP and moving him back and forth from the Wing and Center over the last few games? I’m a big fan on Boyle but this year he has been nothing short of a disappointment. We will have to wait and see.
