Andrew Gross tweeted today that some San Jose Sharks scouts were viewing their second New York Rangers game in a row. Is a trade possibly brewing?

Personally I don’t think anything is imminent. I don’t see the Rangers trading any roster players at the moment (or any roster players of value). Scouts go to games all the time and a trade going down seems unlikely.

There’s a couple players on the Sharks I like, but I don’t think the Rangers and Sharks exactly match up well in a trade. Very similarly structured in the contracts department in terms of cap hits. Also, both teams have the same needs as each other.

We all know what an endearing and engaging person John Tortorella is, right? About as lovable as a paper cut. His cantankerous attitude and reputation with the media rivals only my grandfather during a bout of hemorrhoids. In a way, he’s the opposite of a media darling yet still a star in his own way.

As Rangers fans, we know to expect some gems from Tortorella every now and then. Take the 2-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers a couple weekends back. Torts proclaimed in 16 seconds that his team sucked from head to toe and that’s all anyone needed to know. You shouldn’t expect much in 16 seconds, until you’re talking about how long Kim Kardashian’s marriage to Kris Humphries lasted. But I digress…if you poke John Tortorella the right way, you’ll get a response with just enough heat to rival a volcanic eruption. The latest person to do so: Joe Thornton.
