The coaches

The head coaching role could sometimes be overlooked in terms of importance, but it is a crucial role in the development of its players. The New York Rangers clearly have a decision to make behind the bench.

The coaching staff has made a large array of questionable choices over the years. One of the most puzzling decisions has been the workload of Henrik Lundqvist. Lundqvist saw a lot of use in the months of January and February. The over-use of an aging goaltender perhaps is not in the best interest of either Vigneault or the franchise.

However, the questions do not end there. Earlier in the season, the Kreider-ZIbanejad-Buchnevich line was often separated to the dismay of many. The line has great chemistry and always seem to click, even if they don’t chip in on the scoresheet.

Will the head coach position be vacated by the draft? By the start of next season? No one knows for sure, but it’s something to keep an eye on.
