New York Rangers: Panarin’s star turn, other takeaways from Sharks win
1. Showing some resolve
We’ve said it before but we will say it again, the New York Rangers boast an abundance of character and heart in that locker room.
While they do put up some absolute stinkers, you can’t ever accuse them of lacking fight and that was evident again in San Jose on Thursday.
Because, for the sixth consecutive time, the Blueshirts recorded a win after coming off a loss and a lot can be said for that.
And the Rangers had to grind out this win too.
With the Sharks trying to impress new Interim Head Coach Bob Boughner, San Jose took a lead in the first period and again early in the third.
However, the Rangers were dominant as they outshot their hosts 30-18 and limited them to just two shots on goal in the third period.
They were clinical when it mattered and it was just an impressive road win for the Rangers, who needed to bounce back after dropping a tough one to the LA Kings on Tuesday.
You do wonder where the New York Rangers might be in the standings if they were more consistent, but you have to give this young team credit for the way they keep responding after setbacks.
