10:54AM:

– Well this is going to be weird. Both McKenzie and Dreger are also reporting Detroit as the front runners for Alfie’s services. Sad sad day in Ottawa.

Here’s a quick overview of what we have going on so far right now (10:48AM):

– Other interested teams in Iggy are VAN, EDM, OTT, BOS (surprise, surprise), PIT. But it’d be interesting to see if he wants to go to a win now contender, or sit back and watch a team in rebuild mode. I’d cross the Penguins off the list due to their lack of cap space, but maybe they’ll clear more? This will be another move to follow.

– If the Rangers are looking at anyone, a depth player really makes sense for them. They can sign Dom Moore, or Max Lapierre for the cheap. This will quite possibly, and excite many as the end of Brian Boyle’s time in New York. Esepcially if the team signs Moore. Too many centers and Boyle will more than likely be the odd man out.

– I’m sure that Tyler Bozak will stay in Toronto. It’s just a matter of them getting the dollar value right, which I’m sure they will. Whoever loses out in courting Alfredsson, might take a quick look at Bozak, but the dollar amount he’s asking for may be a bit to much for someone who really hasn’t proven himself in the NHL yet.

– I couln’t agree more. He’s a highly coveted free agent, what team wouldn’t want him. With a lot of teams looking for center help, he flies right to the top of the barrel for that position. It is more than likely going to be a 1, 2 year deal, due to his age. But, will Ottawa keep him? Or will he move on. It’s always good to see someone stay with one team throughout their career, but it doesn’t happen all the time. I feel he stays in Ottawa, but time will tell.

– And here is where someone will overpay a guy who in the last 34 games of the season only scored 5 times, after a fast start. This free agent market is weak, we get that, but by no means does a player who has only had ONE good season (30 goals in 2011-2012), deserves a max contract. But, then again, good luck to him, because he’ll probably get it.

– If that’s the case, he better bring a new attitude with him. St. Louis with Hitch and Anaheim with Boudrea will not take his baggage, and he’ll be right back where he left off, stuck on the fourth line fighting for minutes. LeBrun also reported that Grabovski is only interested in staying in the NHL. Won’t jump back to the KHL.
