I remember watching this game. A classic bout between two rivals. It was a tense 60 minutes which turned out to produce a 0-0 scoreline. In overtime, with 1:50 remaining, Derek Brassard dishes a wonderful backhand pass to Dan Girardi, splitting the defenseman. G finishes off the play by roofing the puck over Evgeni Nabakov’s shoulder, ending the game, and sealing 2 points for the Rangers.

In his post-game interview, Girardi said he just closed his eyes and hoped the puck went in. That’s a good strategy nowadays especially if your a defenseman.
