New York Rangers Fans Get Too Upset Too Fast

Most, if not all New York Rangers Fans are upset with the teams performance this season. However, in all honesty the team is fine. They are not going to win the Presidents Cup again, but after last years let down it should be clear to everyone that having the best record in hockey doesn’t mean a thing if you cannot win the cup.

I know everyone is frustrated, myself included, with the lack of ability the Rangers have shown thus far to put together a solid winning streak, but what fans seem to be overlooking are the facts that the Rangers are currently still in playoffs and they have plenty of hockey left to play.

The Rangers have 18 divisional games left and have yet to play the Penguins at all this season. That is 18 out of the remaining 39 games the boys in blue have left to play. That is a ton of hockey.

A ton of hockey, while only being one game out of second place means that the New York Rangers should not make any drastic changes in order to try and save their season, since the season isn’t lost in anyway. Getting rid of Keith Yandle, executing players for having an off night and the fact that fans are already asking players to hang up their blades is somewhat absurd.

But hey, it is a big market team in New York so give them hell, right?

Sure, last night was a tough to digest. The team gave up a third period lead, which is something they haven’t done since November 29, 2013!

That being said, when the Rangers skate on to another teams home ice and are up after 40 minutes of play the other team knows that the hammer will be laid, defense will be tight and their chance of scoring is slim to none. That presence on the ice is not going to go away after one game, I promise you.

The New York Rangers know that their game tomorrow against their long time rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers is an extremely crucial game. Even though the team still needs to win and needs prove that they can win in clusters, there is plenty of time left to do so.

All you have to do is look across the city to New Jersey to see what happens when a team streaks at the right time. The 2007 New York Giants were not expected to do anything in the playoffs, let alone become road warriors and take down the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl.

I am aware that football and hockey are different and most things do not translate between sports. However, one thing that does translate is winning and whether it be Football, Baseball, Basketball or Hockey, streaking at the right time is all that matters.

As long as the Blue Shirts make it into the playoffs, and by that time have proven they can put together a solid winning streak, I would not count them out of anything. Calling all Rangers fans, take a page out of Aaron Rodgers book and just RELAX.
