Tommy Wingels

In recent seasons, Jeff Gorton and the Rangers have done a good job of finding bargain-bin talent to fill their roster. Last year it was Viktor Stalberg, this season’s gem is Michael Grabner. Next season’s savvy signing will be Tommy Wingels.

Wingels was once a highly-touted prospect of the San Jose Sharks organization. Since recording 38 (’13-’14) and 36 (’14-’15) points  in back-to-back seasons, Wingels production has dropped off This season, his playing time lessened with the emergence of various young players in San Jose. In turn, Wingels was traded to Ottawa at the trade deadline.

Next season, New York stands to lose at least one key forward during the expansion draft. Tommy Wingels represents a young, skilled player that can contribute up-and-down the Rangers’ lineup.
