The New York Rangers have many great players that have performed well in comparison to their monetary value to the team.

Finding a way not to overpay for players is a struggle many NHL GM’s, especially the New York Rangers, struggle with. Their legacy’s come down to whether or not they can find players that perform at a higher rate than their salary would suggest.

Jeff Gorton and previous Rangers GM Glen Sather have done a great job with that in New York.

In fact, there really aren’t too many players on the New York Rangers that are receiving an absurd amount of money per year.

Rick Nash is probably the only player on the current roster who is making more than his numbers suggest that he should. The only other bad contracts on the payroll are those of Dan Girardi and Marc Staal. However those two are older and declined significantly after signing their contracts.
