New York Rangers: Five moves that could have been

With the summer almost over, the New York Rangers find themselves with some pieces missing. The deals have all been made, but which ones could’ve helped the Rangers?

The free agency craze has come and gone, along with the draft. The New York Rangers have had all summer long to address their lack of center depth, as well as their surplus of young defensemen. There were plenty of signings and moves this summer that the Rangers likely could’ve been in on that fell through, and some look way better than others.

It has to be stated that nobody knows how hard general manager Jeff Gorton pushed to make these deals. Gorton simply could’ve stood by and watched players be dealt, or signed, and let it happen. That’s no matter here.

While the free agent class was weaker than most this year, there were still plenty of players the Rangers could’ve used. Let’s break them down.
