Matt Duchene –

The Rangers are weak down the middle Matt Duchene would be a perfect fit. It is also no secret that Duchene’s relationship with the Colorado Avalanche is shaky right now.

After a summer of trade rumors swirling around Duchene’s head, it took a toll on him, as it would on any player. Colorado’s General Manager, Joe Sakic has been asking for a steep price from teams to acquire Duchene and teams haven’t taken the bait yet.

Duchene is set to enter his final year of his contract next season and it becomes more likely that Duchene won’t sign an extension with the Avalanche. The 26-year-old center’s value will only continue to diminish as time passes. The Avalanche won’t want to lose Duchene for nothing after next year so they will need to deal him eventually.

If they move Duchene at this season’s deadline, it will give the team more time to sign him to an extension thus having more value. Sakic needs to move Duchene this season so they don’t just lose him for nothing.
