Age –

It is no secret that as you get older, your body tends to slow down. This is the current case for Henrik Lundqvist. With age comes a greater risk of potential injury and Lundqvist has seen his fair share of them over the past few years. Lundqvist has been the New York Rangers starting goaltender for 12 seasons and is currently in his 13th. He has played in 755 games.

Lundqvist has been on the wrong end of some serious injuries causing him to miss multiple weeks during those seasons. If Lundqvist suffers another serious injury, he needs to contemplate on retiring. He has a wife and a daughter that he still needs to care for and a future of spending time with his loved ones.

The Swedish goaltender is no longer in his prime and I hate to say it but is coming towards the end of his career. If Lundqvist wanted to, he could inquire about working on TV as an analyst for perhaps the NHL Network. If that is the case, he will still be bringing income in for his family all while keeping his body away from injury.

It has been a long and grinding career for Lundqvist but there is a life outside of playing hockey and he may learn that sooner rather than later.
