Contract –

Henrik Lundqvist has three years remaining on his seven-year contract that he signed back on December 4, 2013. At the end of his contract, Lundqvist will be 38-years-old and no team will be looking to sign him to a long-term contract at that age. Depending on what Lundqvist’s asking price is, he may not even be able to find himself a job on an NHL team. The NHL is getting younger and front offices are starting to take notice of that trend.

The speed of the game is increasing with each passing season. Depending on how the next few seasons play out for Lundqvist in terms of games played and injuries, his time as a starter might be running out as well.

Henrik Lundqvist could find his time with the New York Rangers coming to an end with his contract. He may have to look elsewhere if he wants to continue to be a starting goaltender in the NHL.
