Looking back on 2017, the New York Rangers made some big moves that drastically changed their roster.

This year, management seemed dedicated to maintaining the changes they made to the roster offensively in 2016 while also making moves to improve their defense.

The Rangers had a good deal of offensive depth in the 2016-17 season. While they made a big trade that has impacted their depth thus far, they have managed to solve some of their defensive issues.

In addition, many of their decisions in 2017 have seemed to be in an effort to create a better future for the team down the road. While this may impact their success in the short term, it’s a long-term recipe for success.
