The NHL’s all-star  Saturday night is more entertaining than the all-star game itself. The New York Rangers have several players who could add to that excitement with their unique skillsets.

For all of their warts as a hockey team, the Rangers have some of the most skilled players in hockey. In the past, several players from the franchise have participated in the various contests during the skills contest to varying degrees of success.

Former Ranger Carl Hagelin was only a rookie when he competed in and won the fastest skater competition in 2012. Rangers legend Mike Gartner was the record holder in this contest until 2015 when Dylan Larkin broke the record by two-tenths of a second.

Not only are the Rangers one of the fastest teams in hockey top to bottom, they have several candidates for the other contests. The team is not littered with all-stars but does have a high base skill level that would be well suited for these type of events.
