Down: Peter Holland

Peter Holland is a literal down this week.

Holland was placed on waivers Saturday morning and has not yet been claimed by another NHL team. He has not done very much in his time with the Rangers and had just one goal and three assists for four points in 17 games played. Initially, I was a big proponent of calling Holland up to play with the Rangers. He played exceptionally well in the AHL this season and had 33 points in 36 games split between the Laval Rocket and Hartford Wolf Pack. He was waived due to Chris Kreider making his long awaited return from his blood clot, which saw him out of the line up for two months.

I honestly believe this move was for the best. At this point it is better to let Kreider re-acclimate to playing (and he came out flying in his first game back) than to have Holland take up a roster space.

Next: New York Rangers: It’s good to have Buchnevich back

Next week will be the start of new beginnings for New York Rangers hockey. Soon, we will see familiar faces on their way out and new players on their way in. Hopefully some day soon, the Rangers will return to their former glory and get back into the hunt for the Cup.
