Will new pieces perform as they were on their former teams?

The New York Rangers have acquired some interesting pieces from other teams at the deadline, such as Ryan Spooner from the Boston Bruins and Vladislav Namestnikov from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Spooner has been in the NHL since the 2012-2013. In 250 games with the Bruins, Spooner ending up producing 142 points. Overall, not too bad for a role player.

So far, Spooner’s Rangers career is off to a great spot. He has produced five assists in two games so far. Obviously, that’s a ridiculous and non-sustainable pace to score at. Nevertheless, he has demonstrated excellent playmaking ability and has replaced J.T. Miller terrifically.

Namestnikov has been in the league since 2013-2014. He has played in 260 games and has contributed 125 points. Namestnikov has had his overall production increase every season, coming in either the form of physicality and points. How much of that has to do with playing on a line with Stamkos and Kucherov? We’re about to find out.

Will both of them be back next season? Due to them both becoming RFA’s on July 1 along with Kevin Hayes, it is unlikely.
