The New York Rangers have gone on their first road trip since the trade deadline. Though now captain-less, the Rangers were finally able to snap their losing streak at seven games.

The New York Rangers dropped a bombshell at the trade deadline. Initially, it seemed as if the deadline would slip past with no major moves being made outside of their expiring contracts being shipped away.

The Rangers then proceeded to announce they had traded captain Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In exchange, the Rangers acquired Vladislav Namestnikov, prospects Brett Howden and Libor Hajek, a 2018 first round draft pick, and a 2019 conditional second-round pick which becomes a first-round pick if the Lightning win the Stanley Cup this season or next.

Before that deal was made, the Rangers shipped Rick Nash up to Boston to his new home with the Boston Bruins. In exchange, they acquired Ryan Spooner, Matt Beleskey, prospect Ryan Lindgren, and a 2018 first round pick.

And so, the new era of New York Rangers hockey is ushered in. We are left with very few players remaining from the Cup Final run in 2014.
